New Zealand Diploma in Business

The New Zealand Diploma in Business (NZDipBus) is a nationally recognized qualification that allows students to gain a broad range of general business skills and knowledge to focus on career related options, or pursue further study and professional development. The Diploma is awarded when 12 papers have been passed including six compulsory core papers. The history of this programme can be dated back to the mid 1980s. the institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand, New Zealand Banker’s Institute, New Zealand Institute of Management (NZIM) and other professional organizations recognize this programme which is well known among NZ employers.

NZDipBus programme structure
Core courses are compulsory. Level 6 (Minimum of four courses) Level 4/5 papers (maximum of eight papers)
The core papers are:

  • 400 Accounting Principles
  • 510 Introduction to Commercial Law
  • 520 The Economic Environment
  • 530 Organization and Management
  • 560 Business Communication
  • 541 Fundamentals of Marketing
  • 550 Business Computing
You must select at least 6 papers from this of 7 subjects. 501 Accounting Practices may not be used as an alternative to 400 Accounting Principles to satisfy the requirements of the core. "

  • 642 Marketing Research
  • 644 Buyer Behavior and Communication Strategies
  • 648 Marketing Planning and Control
  • 632 Operations Management
  • 630 Leadership
  • 633 Human Resource Management
  • 635 Employment Relations
  • 636 Applied Management

The student must select at least 4 papers from level six subjects (80 credits) and no more than 3 papers at level four.

Entry Requirements:
Completion of Year 12 (Form 6) of the New Zealand education system, or the equivalent. Foreign students from non-English speaking countries must also have an IELTS minimum of 6.0 or English language skills measured by the IVY placement test.

Visa Opportunities:
The students of NZ Diploma in Business will have up to two year of the student visa with work permit of 20 hours weekly. After graduating the course the students will have the opportunity to request the student job search visa which allows to working full time.
